Vail’s Artist Residency Inaugural Program

Vail’s Artist Residency Inaugural Program

Community News

Art in Public Places (AIPP) is pleased to announce a robust summer of public art programming and community engagement with artist-in-residence Squire Broel.

In anticipation of a working visual art studio designed by Harry Teague Architects nestled within Ford Park, this summer’s artist-in-residency pilot program will be a framework for the public art program while expanding the collection for generations to enjoy. AIPP invited Squire Broel from Walla Walla, Washington to be the first resident visual artist in Vail during the month of July.

A selection of Broel’s work is currently on view at the entrance to the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater and in the town’s welcome centers. His sculptures are layered with references to nature, history, contemporary culture, individuality, and community. His artwork considers connections between the external and the internal, the physical world and the world of thought and emotion.
